Short Bio

As co-founder of Henderson Properties along with her husband, Phil, Shelly Henderson manages the full-service real estate company’s corporate culture and branding via content marketing and social media strategies. She also runs the company’s leadership development courses for employees. Shelly is an author and speaker as well. Her book and speaking platform center around Starting From Scratch. At the core of Shelly’s work and words are that every day is a new day with new opportunities and it’s never too late to chase the dream God has put in your heart; aka Start from Scratch. Shelly also volunteers with JDRF’s Charlotte Chapter, an organization committed to funding Type 1 diabetes research in search of a cure, in honor of her son, Blake, who was diagnosed as a child.

Meet Shelly, a true "Charlottean" with roots deeply embedded in the heart of the Queen City since her elementary school days. As the co-founder of Henderson Properties, alongside her husband Phil, Shelly wears many hats, orchestrating the intricate symphony of day-to-day operations, guiding the ship of social media branding, and fostering leadership development within the organization.

Shelly's journey is one marked by multifaceted achievements, and she takes great pride in her athletic prowess, particularly in golf. Her passion for the sport blossomed during her collegiate years at Appalachian State, where she not only honed her skills but also showcased her dedication on the green. A brief stint on the LPGA Futures Tour added another chapter to her impressive athletic portfolio.

Shelly's life has been a tapestry woven with diverse experiences, encompassing both triumphs and challenges. These experiences culminated in the creation of her first book, Starting From Scratch, a testament to her resilience and the wisdom gleaned from navigating life's twists and turns while starting a business at the same time she started a family.
