When I started my 2019 “starting from scratch” journey, I was a bit intimidated. I didn’t know what to expect in 2019. I had a tiny team with big hearts who were passionate about what I thought I wanted to do and shared my vision.

When I was a young girl, I used to sit in the dark in my family’s living room and stare at the Christmas tree. I’d dream of Christmases past, present, and future. I’d get lost in the magical silence that only Christmas can bring while the lights glistened, and the tinsel hung on my tree. In my opinion, a Christmas tree reflects a sort of anticipation and excitement; it offers HOPE.

The disappointment of not being good enough is something we all experience. You know what I am talking about… one day all is good. The next, someone said this or that and in the court of public opinion, your reputation is going downhill fast.

With that said, as I walked out of Bank of America Stadium after the opening season loss my beloved Carolina Panthers took, I wondered how to incorporate the mixed emotions I felt into a blog for you. After taking another L, the next week, I knew I really needed to write a blog to help me get through, what could be, a very long football season. 

My youngest son is about to embark on his “last first day of school” everthis week. He is a senior in college! Where do that time go anyway? I’m much too young to have a senior in college! I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Since it is my birthday week (HEY THERE fellow Cancerians!!!) I figured I’d compile a list of things to share with you since I am considered wiser and probably way past over-the-hill. Here is some lessons I’ve accumulated over the years that I’d like you to know!

I have been distracted by negativity lately on all levels. The squeaky wheel gets the grease so to speak. Squeaky wheel being my thoughts. You know thoughts become actions right? I am upset at myself for being distracted. Not all of the time mind you, just sometimes; but enough some of the time to see what it is doing. Time to take matters into my own hands and start from scratch!

“I can’t believe they are going to kindergarten!”

“I only have 5 more summer vacations with them!”

These are statements I have seen and heard repeated lately over social media and in conversations. I have lived all of these statements and thought my heart would break thinking I only had a certain amount of time left with my kids.
